All records, etc are from the standpoint of the Eastern Conference.
All Records are in standard MLS format W-L-T.

Round 6 – Week 7
Three games all held at West stadiums
East Record 0-3-0Season To Date
East Record 4-12-5
At Home 3-2-3
On Road 1-10-2
Goal Differential -11
East Points 17
West Points 41It’s getting ugly for the East in road interconference games. Only 1 win and 2 ties in 13 tries. That’s 5 out of a possible 39 points, while the West nabbed 31 points in those games.
This terrible performance by the rest of the East is basically why NYCFC is sitting in the last playoff spot, — barely by the second tie-breaker — with a 1.0 PPG. The bad news is that 29% of the interconference games held in the west that don’t involve NYC have already been played compared to 19% of the total league schedule so we have been getting an outsized benefit from this anomaly. NYC will have to win a few games out West to really take advantage of it.
[…] Last year through 7 weeks the East was 7 games under .500 at 4-12-15 on April 19, 2016. Since then, through 103 games finishing out 2016 and starting 2017, the East is 36-34-33. Two games better than the West. To be fair the East played 3 extra games at home over those 103, but this is a record of evenly matched conferences. The East has a +7 GD over those 103 games. At what point do you think a professional soccer analyst will notice? […]

It’s even worse than that. You dropped a point from the west tally. They have 32 points to the east’s 5.

Hey Footy. Good to hear from you. I think I inadvertently fooled you (or maybe not), because this post is from last year, and repurposed from the forums. I pushed it over here because it served as a good backdrop to the first post for 2017. I’m guessing you got a ping about a new post and didn’t notice the date assigned to it. The current East/West figures are much better for the East, as you can see if you look at the front of the blog and the real most recent post.
